2020 Monuments & Canyons Artist: Monica Esposito

Monica Esposito, born in Denver in 1978, is a working artist as well as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. She moved to Texas with her family as a child and lived there for many years, although Colorado was always called home. Monica returned to Colorado in 2001 after receiving her degree in Fine Arts, Painting, from the University of Texas. Although she had focused on figurative work at University of Texas, she quickly turned to the awe of the western landscape for her inspiration. She credits the art and life of Georgia O’Keeffe as one of her strongest influences. The Colorado landscape continues to inspire her; desert canyons and mountain vistas are normally explored with her paints and sketchbook in hand.

When she is not putting time in at her easel or painting en plein air, she is hiking with her Fiancé and two dogs, Kannah and Mr. Pip. Monica is a member of the Plein Air Artists of Colorado and Oil Painters of America. You can find her work represented at the Blue Pig Gallery in Palisade, CO.
