2020 Monuments & Canyons Artist: Nancy Lewis

Nancy Lewis is passionate about travel, exploring the great outdoors, and painting.  She combines these passions by painting outside in the Plein Air.  She discovered this love of Plein Air painting while traveling for 2 ½ years by bicycle throughout the Americas with a small watercolor kit.  She painted people, places, and things from Canada to Argentina. It was habit-forming.

Nancy continues to paint on location in exotic, remote, and beautiful places. Some of her favorite places can be found at  National Parks.  She has been invited to paint in numerous National Park Plein Air Festivals throughout the country where she and other artists create masterpieces that are for sale. The sale proceeds help fund valuable programs for the parks. This is the 4th year Nancy has been honored to participate in the Monuments and Canyons Plein Air Invitational.

Besides painting outside, she does painting in her studio located in Palisade Colorado, teaches art classes and workshops.  She posts free weekly Plein Air outings for Colorado Western Slope Artists. Nancy’s artwork can be viewed online at www.NancyLewisArt.com and the Blue Pig Gallery in her hometown.
