Discover these magnificent creatures\, renowned for their powerful horns and incredible ability to thrive in challenging environments. \nWhile the thrill of spotting bighorn sheep is a highlight\, remember that nature operates on its own schedule. This 5-mile\, 4-5 hour moderately strenuous hike offers a chance to immerse yourself in the Monument’s stunning scenery\, regardless of wildlife sightings. Bring binoculars or a spotting scope to maximize your viewing experience\, along with ample water\, snacks\, layers\, and a packed lunch. \nDetails: \n\nDate & Time: April 3 at 8:30 AM\nLocation: Lower Monument Canyon Trailhead:  From the west (Fruita) entrance of the Monument\, turn right onto Highway 340 (going east); after 2.1 miles (3.4 km) turn right just beyond mile marker #5 onto a dirt road that appears to be a driveway; go 0.1 mile (0.2 km) to the trailhead. Maps can direct you to Lower Monument Canyon Trailhead.\nRegistration: Risk forms must be signed prior to beginning the hike.\nDistance: Approximately 5 miles\, plan for a 4–5-hour moderately strenuous hike.\nBring: Water\, snacks\, layers and lunch if needed.\nNote: Hike may be cancelled or postponed due to weather. Russell Jr. and Nick Carozza. Read their bios below.  \nTicket sales support priority projects for Colorado National Monument Association. \nParking & seating opens at 5:00pm. Music begins at 6:00pm. \nPlease note: \n\nEntrance fees apply and are not included with ticket purchase. Fees and passes information.\nCarpooling is highly encouraged to address limited parking options in and around the Saddlehorn area.\nThe event will continue Rain or Shine. Russell Jr. Maternally Irish born for Tsi’naajinii. Fourth Generation Diné Silversmith\, Bassist\, Composer\, and Cultural Preservationist. Owner of Russell Trading Company since 2020. Justin has composed music for orchestra\, string trio\, piano\, oboe\, and double bass. Current ensembles include the Grand Junction Symphony and Mariachi San Jose. \nBassist Justin G. Russell Jr.\nNick Carozza is a musician currently based in Las Vegas\, Nevada. He is the oboist with Red Rock Quintet and is pursuing a D.M.A. at U.N.L.V. with Dr. Stephen Caplan. An experienced orchestral musician\, he has performed with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra\, Montgomery Symphony Orchestra\, Meridian Symphony Orchestra\, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra\, and Nevada Ballet Theatre Orchestra. In February 2024\, Nick performed Klughardt’s Konzertstück for Oboe & Orchestra with the Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra. He is a national finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Woodwind Competition\, winning the Nevada state and Southwest regional competitions. Nick received a B.M. from Colorado Mesa University studying with Dr. William Aikens and M.M. from The University of Alabama studying with Dr. Mary Lindsey Bailey and Dr. Sara Renner. \nOboist Nick Carozza
