SUMMARY:Saddlehorn Concert Celebrating National Public Lands Day
DESCRIPTION:Colorado National Monument Association is hosting a concert at the Saddlehorn Amphitheater this September to celebrate National Public Lands Day. \nNational Public Lands day is a chance to connect with new communities and an opportunity to use America’s public lands for education\, recreation\, and overall physical and mental health. \nWe are thrilled to host Jeneve Rose Mitchell for another lively evening of musical performance. She is an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist. At just 15\, Jeneve dazzled the nation as a top 14 finalist on American Idol’s farewell season. Her performances are a delightful blend of various instruments and musical genres. Discover more about Jeneve here. \nThis concert is a fundraiser for Colorado National Monument to support priority projects within the monument’s boundary. \nParking & seating open at 4:30pm. Music beings at 5:30pm. Sunset is at 7:03pm. \nPlease note: \n\nEntrance fees will be waived for National Public Lands Day.\nCarpooling is still highly encouraged to address limited parking options in and around the Saddlehorn area.\nThe event will continue Rain or Shine. SUMMARY:Nocturne Art at the Monument
DESCRIPTION:Join local artist\, Cedar Keshet for an evening of exploring nocturne art and sky gazing at Saddlehorn Picnic Area. A moonlit night can bring peaceful quiet and mystery. Both feelings are evoked in nocturnes\, or paintings depicting nightfall lit by the moon\, stars and lamplight.    \nWe will be creating simple nocturne artwork with supplies provided. No previous art skills are required\, just a willingness to have fun and try a new activity.   \nDetails:  \n\nDate : July 10th at 7:30 PM  \n\n\nLocation: Saddlehorn Picnic Area  \n\n\nRegistration: Risk forms must be signed prior to the event.  \n\n\nBring: Headlamps\, (We want to keep it night sky friendly\, no big lights\, please.) bug spray\, camp chair\, jacket or sweater\, reflective clothing or safety vest\, any portable art supplies you would like\, but not necessary\, dinner or snacks and water. \n\n Note: Park passes are required. Carpooling is encouraged. The event may be cancelled or postponed due to the weather.

Russell Jr. Maternally Irish born for Tsi’naajinii. Fourth Generation Diné Silversmith\, Bassist\, Composer\, and Cultural Preservationist. Owner of Russell Trading Company since 2020. Justin has composed music for orchestra\, string trio\, piano\, oboe\, and double bass. Current ensembles include the Grand Junction Symphony and Mariachi San Jose. \nBassist Justin G. Russell Jr.\nNick Carozza is a musician currently based in Las Vegas\, Nevada. He is the oboist with Red Rock Quintet and is pursuing a D.M.A. at U.N.L.V. with Dr. Stephen Caplan. An experienced orchestral musician\, he has performed with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra\, Montgomery Symphony Orchestra\, Meridian Symphony Orchestra\, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra\, and Nevada Ballet Theatre Orchestra. In February 2024\, Nick performed Klughardt’s Konzertstück for Oboe & Orchestra with the Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra. He is a national finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Woodwind Competition\, winning the Nevada state and Southwest regional competitions. Nick received a B.M. from Colorado Mesa University studying with Dr. William Aikens and M.M. from The University of Alabama studying with Dr. Mary Lindsey Bailey and Dr. Sara Renner. \nOboist Nick Carozza

SUMMARY:Insects of the Monument
DESCRIPTION:Join Ranger Raven Patrick to learn about the insects that call Colorado National Monument their home.\n\n\nLed by Ranger Raven Patrick\, this evening talk dives deep into the invertebrate world around us and teaches you to be less afraid of the creepy crawlies in your yard. \nRaven will explain what insects are\, teach us how to identify insects\, and explain their role in our ecosystems! Time will be dedicated to learning insect anatomy\, practicing identifying insects to general orders\, and understanding the unique insects we have in the Monument. \n\n—\nRaven Patrick has a bachelor’s in biology from Colorado Mesa University and is pursuing her master’s in entomology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She has traveled to many diverse ecosystems all the way from the Alaskan wilderness to the Amazon Rainforest. Raven began her career as an intern last season\, working for CNMA and the NPS. Now she is finishing this season as an NPS Interpretation Park Ranger! Her hope is to research the role insects have in preserving our natural world\, as well as the role insects play in helping forensic investigations. She is excited to share her insect knowledge with the world!\n—\nThis event will be held outside and is weather-dependent.  Attendees will be notified via email if event is cancelled due to inclement weather. Parking is available at the Saddlehorn Picnic Area. Please bring warm layers to wear!

Ensure your spot at the Saddlehorn Picnic Area lot by purchasing the preferred parking ticket. Additional parking is available at the Visitor Center\, with a scenic stroll along a paved road to the venue. \nThanks to everyone who made this project possible! Many donors\, foundations and community members along with Colorado National Monunment Association contributed to the renovations of the Saddlehorn Ampitheater and the connector trail. The amphitheater will be used for National Park Service-led educational programs and ranger talks that will reach thousands of students and visitors a year. \nDon’t miss the chance to experience an evening of music\, nature\, and celebration at the Saddlehorn concert! \n— \nParking and seating opens at 5:30pm.
