Take a full moon hike up Serpent’s trail and learn about the night sky from a professional astronomer.
An overview of night sky observing will be presented, including how to identify bright stars, planets, and other objects in the sky. Interesting scientific information about these objects will be presented. You will learn how and why objects move across the sky throughout the night and throughout the year.
Optional equipment: binoculars and red flashlights or red headlamps
Dr. Catherine Whiting is an Assistant Professor of physics and astronomy at Colorado Mesa University. She regularly teaches introductory astronomy classes, hosts night sky observing events, and conducts research on exoplanets.
