Field Sketching with Ink and Watercolor

  • This event has passed.

Celebrate Plein Air with Suzie Garner

Suzie will be sharing one of her favorite field journaling activities with this medium, using watercolor and ink on watercolor paper. Demonstrations will include techniques for the sketching, application of watercolor. Sketching and drawing tips for sketching outdoors will be included. Participants will leave with a better understanding of field sketching with pen and ink with watercolor and how to use them in the field.

This is a 2 day event  (October 6th and October 7th) and participants need to bring the following items:
Pencil, Waterproof Technical Pen (I like the Faber Castell Pitt Pen Superfine Size), watercolor paper or watercolor sketchbook and small portable set of watercolors.
Suzie Garner is a Professor of Art and Design at Colorado Mesa University where she has taught graphic design and drawing since 1994. As an avid sketchbook artist and graphic designer, her research focuses on capturing her experiences in the natural world with ink and watercolor. She enjoys teaching others how and has taught field journaling/sketching workshops at the Colorado National Monument, Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Yellowstone National Park. In 2017, she completed an Artist Residency in Yellowstone National Park at the Yellowstone Art and Photography Center in the Old Faithful Historical Area.
