  • This event has passed.

A Mid-Century Perspective

Explore the late 1950s at Colorado National Monument through the eyes of its first permanent naturalist.

Join us for a special presentation featuring a 2001 interview with Dwight Hamilton, the first permanent park naturalist at Colorado National Monument, conducted by his daughter, Leslie Spurlin. In this unique event, you’ll hear Dwight’s reflections on his experiences and see a stunning collection of photographs he took in the late 1950s, capturing the beauty of the monument. Discover what a typical day in the life of an early park naturalist was like.

Additionally, there will be memorabilia and photos from Dwight’s time at Colorado National Monument, 1956-1958.

This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of the monument and learn about the early days of park conservation and naturalist life.

*Entrance fees apply.
