Learn about the geological history of Upper Monument Canyon

Join Don Regan, a retired energy industry geologist, former COLM park ranger and longtime CNMA volunteer and Roger Smith a recently retired geologist and CNMA volunteer for an awe-inspiring day on the monument.
Hike details –
- Meeting at the Upper Monument Canyon Trailhead at 8:30am; risk forms must be signed upon registration.
- From Saddlehorn Visitor Center, turn left onto Rim Rock Drive and proceed 3.8 miles (6.1 km) to the trailhead on the left.
- Approximately 3 miles, plan for a 5-hour strenuous hike.
- Bring water, snacks, layers and lunch if needed.
- Hike may be cancelled or postponed if there is rain or weather within 24 hours of start time. Emails will be sent if hike is cancelled.
- Park passes are required for entry as always please carpool when possible
