8th Annual Monuments and Canyons Plein Air Event – Call for Entry Open

Join us in western Colorado to paint this beautiful landscape.

Submissions now open for the 2024 Monuments and Canyons Plein Air Event.

Paint the scenic red rock canyons of Colorado National Monument and the surrounding high-desert beauty in Western Colorado.

Colorado National Monument Association presents the 8th annual Monuments and Canyons Plein Air Event.

Proceeds from the exhibition provide support for education, research, outreach, and National Park Service special projects in Colorado National Monument.

Many opportunities for artists in addition to the main exhibition: optional river float painting trip, extra exhibit opportunity in 2025, and more! Submission deadline is April 1, 2024.

Application Requirements:

Canyon Rhythms and Hues by Allen Brockbank, Oil
Monument Overlook by Betsy Menand, Pastel
  • Complete the submission form via the provided link.
  • Complete payment of the $35 non-refundable Monuments and Canyons Submission Fee as outlined in the submission form.
  • Submit 3 recent plein air works as outlined in the submission form.

Key Dates:

  • April 1, 2024- Submissions due.
  • May 1, 2024 – Acceptance notifications sent.
  • September 29 – October 6, 2024 – Required participation event dates.
  • October 4, 2024 – Opening reception.
